Based in: Maidstone, Kent

Salary: £120,000+ per annum; Self-employed option £400 - £500 per day

Estimator. Residential Development, Groundworks and Infrastructure. Kent based, established Groundworks contractor turning over £90m working on schemes around M25. Predominantly traditional build schemes with multiple phases, ongoing for up to 2 - 4 years. Office based in N/E Kent, near Maidstone.

Excellent salary plus package of £120k+, with self-employed option (£400-500/day) also available

Your Profile. As a competent Estimator, with 6-8 years relevant experience, working for Groundworks contractors you will be given an opportunity to develop your career. You will be capable of taking responsibility for meeting clients, costing, programming and maintaining strong links with the Technical side of the business. Repeat business is an important element for this company and your negotiations must reflect this. You must be fully IT literate and capable of dealing with all reporting issues linked to programmes and winning contracts.

The Company is a Groundworks and Civil Engineering contractor that has been successfully trading for over 25 years. Working principally for major housing developers, constructing roads, sewers, groundworks and associated infrastructure for new residential developments. Contract packages range in value from £2m to £15m.

The Companys work involves:

  • Groundworks, primarily Residential
  • Civil engineering
  • RC substructure
  • Remediation
  • Ground stabilization
  • Ground improvements
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Highway work

Estimator. The Role.

  • Experienced Estimator with a groundworks or civils background.
  • Competent in standard forms of measurement and estimating.
  • Used to pricing several sites concurrently.
  • Competent in compiling variations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Report directly to Surveying Director.
  • Salary both competitive and negotiable dependant on experience.
  • Offices in north-west Kent.
  • Can start as soon as available.
  • Hours 0800-1700, working from the office.

Groundworks Estimator, with a sound Commercial Groundworks or Civils background, able to win work from £1.5 to £15m on groundworks, RC, infrastructure, and minor roads with the associated interface with Local Authorities, Service Providers, and the public. You will be expected to have good industry contacts and a sound understanding of current market and pricing conditions. You may currently be limited in promotion prospects with your current company and looking for a chance to take on more responsibility and be rewarded for your hard work.

This Value Engineering approach to groundworks and other projects means they can reduce construction costs by finding newer and more effective ways of solving old problems.

The Salary of £100 to £120k+, with bonuses and car allowance, will reflect your ability and level of experience. There is potential for earning substantial bonuses based on productivity. A bespoke package is available including pension and health.

A self-employed option is also available, £400 - £500 day rate.
