Groundworks Estimator required to price work on projects from £250,000 to £3m.
Established over 30 years and working throughout London and the south-east this reputable Contractor needs an Estimator to deal with an increased volume of enquiries. The position may suit someone who wants to work 2/3 days per week initially and a negotiable daily rate of £200 - £250 is offered. Alternatively a full time salaried option may be available.
The Contractor works on schemes where they offer a full service to include all management, engineering plant and materials.
Sectors covered are:
- Civil Engineering to include roads, sewers, bulk earthworks and site remediation
- Housing
- Retail
- Educational
- Commercial
The Company has its own offices and runs a plant yard, so is able to control their site operations and resources quite closely.
Duties will include:
- The management and successful delivery of the company’s tender enquiries and process in ensuring the returned tenders are competitive and meet the needs of the business in delivering the Company’s five year business plan.
- To work together with other parts of the company, including surveying and operational departments to ensure all tenders meet /exceed the requirements and expectations of the client.
- To interface with the Pre-Contract, Design and Cost teams to participate with producing competitive, thorough, and well researched tenders.
- Prepare and submit Proposals in a timely manner– Evaluate Tender Enquiry documentation, assess the resource, materials, engineering requirements and costs within a clients proposal and finalise and generate / submit documentation for tender approval in accordance with company procedures
- Analyse Tender Documentation – to assess the likely impact of the proposed terms and conditions and collate responses from Commercial Manager / surveyors.
- Acquire a thorough understanding of the tender documentation, the Client’s requirements / aspirations, and the required tender deliverables
- Determine tender subcontract and material requirements, ensure that all necessary enquiries are secured via the buying Dept and check/validate enquiry returns.
- Provide assistance in the preparation of additional proposals during the course of the Project – including liaising in respect of any feedback processes
You are likely to have had a minimum of 7 – 8 years experience in estimating in the current UK market, and will probably have had most of your career in the sub-contractor sector, specialising in making money below ground.
