Estimator for Groundworks. Additional requirement for this company operating in Kent, Sussex, London and the south-east. The role will require you to take complete responsibility for contracts from £250k to £1-2m, reporting directly to the Chief Estimator. You will need to have 3-4 years estimating experience working for a Groundworks Contractor in the south-east and thus be aware of local market rates and conditions, as well as understanding the competition. Immediate start available for the right person.
The Company currently works in a number of associated aspects of Civil Engineering and Groundworks. Utilising their specialist skills and in house plant
and equipment they are able to plan, cost and execute all types of groundwork and civil engineering projects. These range from simple schemes to complex large scale
infrastructure developments and include:
• Demolition
• Bulk excavation and enabling works
• Temporary Works
• Foundations and Underpinning
• Drainage
• External earth works
• Highway bridge and culvert works
• Infrastructure term maintenance
• Formwork
• Reinforced concrete structures
• Low tolerance power float work
• Landscaping and paving

Your Role will be to work with the Chief Estimator to assist in pricing and securing additional contracts, primarily on the Groundworks side with some involvement in developing the RC side of the business that is currently responsible for about 35% of the £12m turnover. Work is carried out for Main Contractors, Developers, Local Authorities, Industrial and Commercial clients using a predominantly directly employed labour force.
Qualifications are not essential, however experience in estimating for Groundworks packages from £50,000 to £3m is imperative. You will have worked for at least 3-4 years for established Groundworkers in an estimating capacity. The role is not suited to people with PQS experience.
The work is mainly in the Kent, Sussex and London areas, so you should live within 1 hour’s drive of Rochester. You must have a current driving licence to fulfil this role.
A negotiable Salary of £40,000 is on offer for this role, whilst consideration would be given to a less experienced person who has drive and commitment; the salary is based on your particular skills and experience to date.
