Site Manager – Social Housing project. New and Permanent requirement for a Site Manager to oversee a new build Housing Association project of 27 traditional new build units. The position will be available in mid/end March 2010 and this scheme has a 12 month construction programme.
The Project. You will take charge of a new build Residential complex that has been started and put on hold regarding planning details. The shell is there and you will take it on through modifications and fit out to final handover. You will have a fairly restricted site to work on and must be able to produce a high quality finish on a complex building design, using many of the latest environmentally friendly methods and materials. The work is subcontracted out, so your role is to oversee, guide and control the contractors on each package.
The salary package of £35,000 - £40,000 neg. Tertiary or Trades qualifications are sought, though not essential. Current First Aid certificate and 5 day CITB Site Manager’s certificate the minimum acceptable. Additionally a full understanding of current Health & Safety legislation is paramount and further CITB qualifications would be an advantage.
Your background will clearly demonstrate considerable involvement in running Housing Association projects with a full understanding of the HA requirements associated with the Contractor’s obligation to provide value for money and yet maintain commercial returns. You must be able to demonstrate long periods of continuous permanent employment. Clear oral and written communication will be needed, as will an understanding of IT and the ability to clearly report on site progress.
Trades, Engineering or Management backgrounds are all equally suitable. The common thread being that you are able to competently run a new build project. You must be able to clearly demonstrate a sound career history and development, working for long periods with previous employers. You will probably need at least 6-10 years experience in Site Management to be able to successfully run this project.
