Civils Manager for Paving & Externals contracts to £3m. Experienced in running high profile, high specification, external paving and hard landscaping schemes throughout the City of London, Essex and the Eastern Boroughs. You will ideally come from a Civil Engineering background.
 
This Position is an additional one to cover work which is being awarded. You will be based on a larger project to ensure that it is run in a good technical and commercial manner, ensuring that Health & Safety is adhered to whilst carrying out work in a timely and practical manner, with possible visits to nearby smaller sites.
 
The Contractor has considerable experience in working on projects covering Infrastructure, Road Improvement schemes, River and Rail Bridges, small By-passes, Drainage schemes, Tunnels and Subways, all requiring high quality Engineering Input as well as the associated large scale External Works projects. They have been active in the London region for over 40 years and have built up a reputation for quality workmanship.
 
Good planning and programming skills are required to ensure that the projects are run in an organised and logical manner and you willprobably have at least 6-8 years practical experience working with granite, marble or sandstone in high specification and high profile paving projects, working for a Contractor who is carrying out schemes for Main Contractors, Public Bodies, Government Departments, Local Authorities, Utilities and Private Clients.
 
Drive and self-motivation are required, as are sound communication skills in oral and written presentation, you must be able to assess and discuss technical matters with the clients, local authority representatives and foremen alike as well as having a clear understanding of the commercial aspects that make a successful project.
 
Qualifications in a Civil Engineering Degree, Diploma or equivalent are preferred, whilst being able to demonstrate good commercial and technical knowledge. You will probably have a minimum of 8 - 10 years practical site experience working for a Civils contractor or a suitable sub-contractor. Experience in Highways, Rail associated work, heavy Utilities or Canals and Waterways may all be relevant. You must have a current Driving Licence, CSCS card, NRSWA qualifications, be IT aware and have good oral communication skills.
 
Additional training and assistance in ICE chartership are available if required. You will be expected to be pro-active in applying Health & Safety legislation and principles. This position may be the ideal career move for someone who is currently a No 2 on larger projects or whose promotion prospects are limited in their present company.
 
Initially offered as a Contract position @ £18-20 ph. A Permanent position may be available @ £40,000 basic, with a fully resourced car or car allowance, eligible for Company Profit share, BUPA and contributory Pension scheme, 25 days holiday. Only candidates who are legally entitled to live and work in the UK will be considered for this position.
