Contracts Manager for Demolition and Asbestos Removal. After the acquisition of a Demolition contractor and later an Asbestos Removal contractor this very successful Civils and Groundworks company is seeking to appoint a Contracts Manager to head up the Demolition and Asbestos Removal side of their business.
You should be an ambitious Civil Engineer who may have limited exposure in either or both fields, but is keen to learn and progress. The position will involve growing these sectors for this competitive contractor and the work will predominantly be in London and the south-east. Only self starters should apply.
A Civil Engineering background is preferred and you will have worked on site for contractors or specialist sub contractors, with substantial time spent in either Demolition or “Cut and Carve” operations. This is a perfect career opportunity for a Civil Engineer who intends to develop a career in active management; you will have an opportunity to learn from very experienced managers who are currently in place, whilst bringing in energy and dynamism to win over potential clients.
The Contractor has gone from strength to strength and is aiming to consolidate their place in the Demolition and Asbestos Removal sectors turning over £3m in Demolition and Asbestos Removal work alone, within 2 years. The integrated nature of the company means that there will be considerable support from the other successful divisions of the company. The aim is to bring all the work of Demolition and Asbestos Removal operations in house.
The Contractor has considerable expertise on the Civils side, with a well qualified and fully certified workforce in groundworks, civil engineering, construction, decommissioning, land remediation and drainage operations. Work is regularly generated from repeat business with satisfied clients enabling the company to turnover £30-35m annually. Working for multi-nationals, main contractors and utility contractors the company already has an involvement within the Demolition and Asbestos Removal sectors and now wishes to enhance and develop that potential.
The Role will involve utilising your experience in Demolition to spearhead the growth and expansion of the division, pulling together the demolition activities that are currently worked on by the other sectors of the company, then working with the MD to push the company into the role of “Contractor by choice for Demolition” for future projects. You will be supported by an established commercial, marketing and support team.
Qualified to Degree level, ideally in Civil Engineering, you will have worked for recognised Demolition contractors on a substantial and complicated projects, façade retention, deep access work or confined City sites and be able to demonstrate at least 3-4 years of UK Demolition expertise. Rising through the ranks from a Civil Engineering site based role, you will have relevant qualifications in the Demolition supervisory area, have capable client facing skills and be able to deal with Design teams as well as having practical ideas and above all a “Desire to Succeed”. Your experience will demonstrate a good understanding of Temporary works and their incorporation into the construction process.

Salary expectations are unlikely to be a limiting factor to the ideal candidate. A £60 – 65,000 negotiable basic is offered with an excellent package to include car / allowance, health and pension options with substantial bonuses available and an excellent career path potential. A Directorship is potentially available for the successful person who demonstrates their commercial worth.
