Company Health & Safety Manager. London and South-East. New Position. The company is currently using outside consultants, however due to continued growth they wish to employ a full time Company Health & Safety Manager. In the field of Health and Safety the Company has a strong commitment to continuous improvement involving the constant development of policies, systems and site operations. A suitably qualified candidate is required to head up the Health & Safety department.
Your Role. This is an opportunity to take a pro-active role and the company directors will give you every support. You should be able to encourage Safety without the need to continually enforce Safety. You must be able to work well with the existing company staff, contractors and have a proactive communicative approach to the role. You must have good written and communication skills and an ability to develop and implement Health and Safety performance related systems and procedures where required.
Working in London and the South East the Company has an annual turnover exceeding £20million and a steady and sustained growth programme, with a number of projects already scheduled for later in 2010 and beyond.
Your Responsibilities and Job Description include responsibility for the management and promotion of on-site Health and Safety throughout the company’s sites.
- Promoting positive H&S culture within the Company
- Company policy formulation
- Production of method statements & risk assessments
- Site visits, inspections - stop any unsafe working practices that are observed and raise the matter with site management
- Disciplinary action as appropriate
- Permits to Work procedures
- Deliver and monitor site Toolbox talk programmes
- Investigate accidents and dangerous occurrences and report as necessary
- Undertake audits & reporting
- Monitor the effectiveness of arrangements for the management of health implementing systems
- Ensuring company compliance with the CDM regulations
- Identify training needs and provide necessary training courses
- Maintain a training / qualification system to ensure the company meets requirements of current COSHH assessments.
Background:
Ideally you will have a minimum of 5 plus years experience working on construction projects as a Health and Safety Manager or Health and Safety Advisor. Experience of multi storey construction is preferred whilst experience in other Building & Construction aspects is advantageous. You should be familiar with Associated Legislation:

Qualifications:
You should be in possession of formally recognized Health and Safety qualifications. NEBOSH General Certificate, the minimum acceptable qualification with a NEBOSH Construction Certificate preferred, NVQ level 3 etc (at a very minimum) NEBOSH Diploma 1 preferred. You should also be a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at Technician Member (or above).
Salary and Package. The company is seeking the services of an above average candidate. This appointment will in turn enable the company to win and secure projects as well as ensuring that once won the projects are commercially successful and safely executed.
